Grit Story: Lisa W. from Fort Worth, TX

During my pre-op work up prior to having knee surgery, they found a 3 cm mass in my upper right lobe. I had non small cell squamous lung cancer stage 2b. I had my right upper lobe removed and received chemo once a week for 4 months. Since then I have CT scans every 6 months and so far I am cancer free. Since being diagnosed with cancer I don’t sweat the little things. I travel more when I can and live every moment spending time with my kids and grand kids. What I would like to share is never give up hope. Don’t take life for granted and make as many memories with your family as you can.

I have loved the Duke my entire life. My father was a big fan. I have every one of his movies. When I was told I had lung cancer, I was first reminded of how the Duke fought it so I could as well. He has always been an inspiration to me.
