Dr. Preya Ananthakrishnan is Director of Breast Surgery at the White Plains Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care. Prior to becoming Director at White Plains, she was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She was the Fellowship Director of the Columbia University Breast Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Ananthakrishnan received her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and was the Chief Administrative Resident at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ. After completing her residency in general surgery, she was named a John Wayne Fellow in breast oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
One of Dr. Ananthakrishnan’s areas of interest is in breast cancer survivorship and development of a low cost alternative to decrease mortality rates both here and abroad. It is this work that leads to her presentation at the World Cancer Congress, entitled, “Breast cancer survivorship series: A low cost strategy to promote patient education and engagement.”
